Kékesteto
This December, the Non-Technical Hike Club made its way to Kékestető, Hungary’s tallest peak, for a day that perfectly captured the beauty of winter hiking. The trails were blanketed in fresh snow, with quiet forests and icy paths creating an atmosphere that felt almost otherworldly.
We set off as a group, taking on the snowy terrain at an easy pace, with plenty of moments to pause, chat, and enjoy the surroundings. While the trail presented some icy challenges, it was nothing a good pair of boots and a helping hand couldn’t solve. The shared effort and encouragement along the way reminded us what makes these hikes so rewarding.
Reaching the summit was the highlight of the day. Surrounded by snow-covered trees and sweeping views, we took a moment to soak it all in before breaking out the snacks and a few well-earned cups of tea. The descent brought its own share of lighthearted moments, from unintentional slips to a few snow-filled detours.
This trip was a reminder of why we love winter hiking: it’s not just about the destination, but the shared experience of getting there. If you’re looking for a way to enjoy the season and connect with others, our next hike might be exactly what you need.
We’ll see you on the trail. 🥾❄️
